Hcheap city tolerance
Last year, I wrote about totalitarian symbols of a slowed-down wall in the parking lot of the Ministry of Health. the inscription Apartů in Czech and in Cyrillic, there is sprayed VI Lenin and JV Stalin, a red star, a sickle and a hammer. The building in Prague 2 is already called the Lenin Wall. Why not? Since we already have the Lennon Wall in the capital of tolerance, which was visited by several thousand peaceful tourists a year before the covid, why can’t we have a place of pilgrimage for the red terror dedicated to the communist mass murderers?
The ruling coalition in Prague 2, which already consists of the ODS politician, TOP 09, ANO and the Citizens for Satisfied Living movement, led by the mayor Jana Černochová from the ODS, apparently does not mind this communist propaganda in its district. Or they didn’t notice it in seven months, as did the employees of the Ministry of Health or the top management of the Pirate Party, which is located just a few tens of meters from the wall. After all, the symbols of communism can be found in more places, but few try to remove them. Even the inhabitants of the house in Prague 1 do not mind the inscription at the entrance, for example.
Response to the article by the press spokesperson of the City District of Prague 2 Andrey Zoulová from the Communication Department:
respond to the article entitled “Not only Lennon, Lenin also has a wall in Prague”, published on April 26, 2021 on the website https://ceskapozice.lidovky.cz/politika-na-ulici/nejen-lennon-uz-i -lenin-ma-v-praze-zed.A210421_122505_pozice-politika-na-ulici_lube, in which the author points to long-term unsolved graffiti on the wall near the parking lot of the MZČR building. The article literally states, among other things: “The ruling coalition in Prague 2, which already consists of the ODS politician, TOP 09, ANO and the Citizens for Satisfied Living movement, led by the mayor Jana Černochová from the ODS, apparently does not mind this communist propaganda in its district.”
to confirm to you and the readers of that article that I have long considered the protection of valuable architecture and public space in a protected area from vandal attacks by the management of the City Hall of Prague 2 to be one of the priorities. That is why it continues for the eleventh year of the antigraffiti program “2 against graffiti“, In which the cleaning company Komwag works related to the removal of spray paint and the application of protective anti-graffiti coatings on buildings and structures. More than 300 private and municipal houses are currently involved in the project. In just one year, our city district spent 1.5 million crowns on the removal of graffiti in parks and playgrounds from its budget.
The drawback in the fight against graffiti is the fact that in the territory of Prague 2 there are a number of buildings in private ownership or in the ownership of the capital city of Prague, where the city district cannot interfere with foreign property without an agreement with the owner. In the case of the capital city of Prague, this mainly concerns the New Town Walls in our part of the city (they have a separate parcel number and were not entrusted to the district by the Statute). As it did in the case of the MZČR building, mentioned in the announced article from 26 April 2021, when the Department of Property Management of the City of Prague The Deputy Mayor of Prague 2, Václav Vondrášek, turned to Prague with a request to solve the problem.
