They will run through Prague with tram number 19, thanks to them the stop Pankrác – ČT24 – Česká televize will come to life
The introduction of the new tram line will have the greatest impact on traffic in Prague’s Žižkov, Nusle and Pankrác. Line 19 will connect the area of Hloubětín and Prague 4. “We made the line so that people do not have to drive to the center unnecessarily, and we relieve even busy lines. The introduction of the new line was already partially planned at the beginning of the year, however, due to repairs in Nusle, the beginning of the new connection was postponed to the date after the completion of construction work, “said Drápal.
According to the Prague transport company, the work is to be completed by June 4. The final new line 19, Pankrác, is at the end of the as yet unused tram line, which was built in autumn 2020. At present, it partly serves as a car park. Trams in Pankrác also ran in the past, but after the opening of the metro in the 1970s, they were canceled.
The new line will also affect other connections
The introduction of line 19 will also require a change in the route of the other four trams. Line 5, which currently runs from Barrandov to Strašnice and ends at the DP Central Workshops, will now run from the Olšanské náměstí stops to the Žižkov depot. It will strengthen the route 9 in the part of the route.
Line 13, which now connects Vršovice, Vinohrady and Strašnice, will now end at Olšany Cemeteries. The replacement for its shortening and diverted line 5 will be line 16, which now connects Smíchov, Žižkov and Hloubětín and ends at Lehovec. Newly, it will continue from Želivský to the Central Workshops of DP. A new line 19 will run from Žižkov to Lehovec instead. The line that will end at the Náměstí Bratří Synků stop will also have to retreat.
The introduction of the new tram line will not affect buses 193 in any way. They will run from Pankrác to Vršovice railway station without changes.
