The Railway Administration has reopened a tender for the documentation of the Prague-Beroun line. A 24 km tunnel is planned iROZHLAS
The Railway Administration has again started preparing an update of the documentation for the territorial management of the construction of a new line between Prague’s Smíchov and Beroun, which will include a tunnel of more than 24 kilometers. It has therefore announced a repeated tender. The Railway Administration informed about it on Tuesday. The organization announced a tender for the contract last year, but after the intervention of the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) it canceled it. At that time, its estimated price was around 160 million crowns.

The new double-track line, which will be part of the third corridor, will start handling the exit from the Prague-Smíchov station, where two more tracks will be added to the two current tracks. The track will lead mainly in a tunnel, which starts below Barrandov and ends at Beroun. Furthermore, the new corridor will continue with an overpass over the Berounka valley.
On the Prague side of the tunnel, a branch to the Branický Bridge in the direction of Prague-Krč will be built, and on the Beroun side of the tunnel, a branch will be prepared for the adjoining new high-speed line in the direction of Pilsen. The new tunnel will be designed for a maximum speed of 200 km / h. The construction itself should begin in 2028 and last about seven years.
