The Emirates sent a “mini-freighter” to Prague for the first time. Passenger Boeing 777-300ER without seats
Emirates has set aside 16 passenger planes for cargo.
For the first time, Emirates’ cargo division deployed a Boeing 777-300ER in the Czech Republic in a version it describes as a mini-freighter. It is a passenger aircraft, from which, due to the high demand for flying, the carrier removed all the seats, and thus used the passenger deck to transport cargo.
A special flight organized by DB Schenker / Schenker Flight Services GmbH transported cargo from Vietnam to the Czech Republic. The carrier informed SkyCargo about the flight arranged in a press release. There were 55 tons of personal protective equipment and other aids on board.
Emirates is one of the first carriers to use passenger planes purely for cargo years during the pandemic. Emirates SkyCargo currently has 16 passenger Boeing 777-300ERs adapted for “mini-freighter” goods transport.
Emirates SkyCargo has flown more than 27,800 cargo flights over the past year using modified passenger aircraft. These transports have helped transport more than 100,000 tons of essential goods, including protective equipment, test kits, fans, medicines, vaccines and food. This volume is the equivalent of a thousand fully loaded Boeing 777s. The Dubai company has set up a GDP-certified air distribution hub to store and distribute Covid-19 vaccine with UNICEF to support global vaccine distribution to developing countries via Dubai.
