Do you feel stink? Fill in the form. Prague has launched odor monitoring Company News Pražská Drbna
In recent weeks and months, people have repeatedly complained about the smell in some parts of Prague, especially in the west of the metropolis. These recurring complaints eventually led the capital’s management to launch a new system for monitoring annoying odors from industrial production in Prague. People just need to fill out a form.
Send odor complaints exclusively via
It’s easy, if someone smells an odor whose origin is not clear to me, I can report it to the capital’s first completed form. “It is now available for citizens to download, where they can report the occurrence,” it is written on the environment portal of the capital city of Prague.
The information from the completed forms will be evaluated by the municipal staff and will serve as a basis for a possible discussion of the problematic odor with the operators. The management of the municipality asks the citizens to complain about the possible smell only through the form, so there will be no duplication of incoming complaints and thus no distortion of data.
Creating a map of reported events
The information from the forms is compared with the information on wind speed and direction at the CHMI measuring stations in Prague, so that inadequate complaints can be ruled out. Legitimate complaints will be stored in a database, which will serve as a basis for further action in resolving the issue of odor. Thanks to the location information, it will be possible to create a map of reported events.
“This new way of monitoring and reporting odors in real time will contribute to the possibility of operatively resolving the situation with possible odor agents,” said the mayor of the western part of Prague – Zličín Marta Koropecká (For Zličín and Sobín).
