Prague is extending metro B. It already has a designer
The Capital Transport Company (DPP) has already selected the designer of the new station. The contract was acquired by Sudop Praha and Metroprojekt. The project will not only build a new stop, but also expand the depot by two halls.
The value of the contract is 90.4 million crowns, about four million less than the estimated price. “Preparatory and design work is already underway at this time. Preparations are currently underway for the selection of an architect for the elaboration of an architectural study at the Depo Zličín metro station, “said Daniel Šabík, director of the transport company’s communication department.
Done in four years?
The Zličín depot should become the 62nd station in the Prague metro network. The total estimated costs are 1.4 billion crowns, construction is to begin in 2023. According to the preliminary schedule, DPP would like to put it into operation at the end of the summer holidays in 2025.
The prepared station will be a surface, double-track, with a side platform, located below the slope on the north side of the existing Zličín depot track.
The tracks from the newly arranged track branch will lead to the prepared stop so that the stations are operated and the entrances to the depot do not limit each other and the trains cannot travel 40 km / h here.
With parking
The current depot will then receive two more halls. “If we plan to shorten the intervals on line B in the future, we will have to move part of the sets from lines A to the depot, but we first need to build a new parking capacity for them in Zličín,” explained Petr Witowski, Chairman of the DPP Board of Directors.
“In addition, we have a test track in Zličín, which we will use to test new cars planned for line D. We also need to create sufficient capacity for them here in time,” Witowski added.
A new P + R car park for 600 cars is also being built at the station. The distance between the exits from the metro and the nearest entrances to the garages will be about 30 meters.
