HOTELS

The Prince Rainier III suite at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo. Eric Martin

Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo (Tel: 00 377 98 06 20 00). Place du Casino. A mythical palace, this hotel has kept all the elegance of yesterday revamped by a contemporary style. For nearly thirty years, it has hosted the three-star restaurant Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse. But it is Louis XIV, on his equestrian statue, that must be touched before going to the casino. The gesture would bring luck to the game… From € 596 per double room.

Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo (Tel: 00 377 98 06 20 00). Square Beaumarchais. Entering this palace is a taste of the Belle Époque. The Beaumarchais lobby first, then the gold and red reception hall (ask to see it), and finally the winter garden. Under the sumptuous glass roof designed by the disciples of Gustave Eiffel, breakfast has a delicious character. Note: the imminent opening of the Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno’s table. From € 425 per double room.
