Construction between Prague 4 and Prague 5 is scheduled to begin next year
Prague – The construction of the Dvorecký Bridge connecting Prague 4 and Prague 5 should start construction in the middle of next year. The Prague City Hall wants to apply for a building permit within two months. When asked by ČTK, Prague spokesman Vít Hofman stated this today. According to him, the city expects the bridge to be completed at the turn of 2024 and 2025. The bridge for trams, pedestrians and cyclists is to improve the transport connection between the Zlíchov and Podolsk banks of the Vltava.
“We plan to start the construction of the Dvorecký Bridge in the middle of next year, but it will depend on the speed of the construction procedure, which we would like to start in two months,” said the spokesman. The project for the construction of the bridge was developed by Tubes and Atelier6, the price was 132.7 million crowns.
Hofman added that the city had commissioned the project to be extended by a triangular area between the Lihovar and Strakonická bus stops, which did not address the original documentation. “The municipality has expanded the assignment for architects to prepare a solution for this adjoining space in the future, after the completion of the Dvorecký Bridge and the modification of its surroundings, there is no existing unimproved area.” said the spokesman.
In addition, the extension of the assignment of the project of a boating base, which is on the site of the mouth of the new bridge in Podolí. It will be demolished and the designers were given the task of designing its replacement. “The specific costs of implementing these additional adjustments have not yet been quantified, but we will generally be in the order of small units of percent of the project price,” added Hofman.
According to previous estimates, the construction of the bridge should have cost about a billion crowns. The city selected the authors of the design in an architectural competition, in which 45 designs entered. The winning proposal refers to Cubism. The eastern outlet of the building will be at Žluté lázně north of Jeremenkova Street, the western one will be near the Lihovar tram stop. Part of the project is the design of a new tram stop Dvorecký most.
So far, the last Prague bridge over the Vltava, the Troja Bridge, was put into operation in October 2014. It replaced the Troja Tram Bridge from 1981, nicknamed the “Ramusak”, which was closed on October 7, 2013. Last year, the city opened a new footbridge across the Vltava which collapsed in 2017. The municipality also recently announced a tender for the construction of another footbridge connecting Prague’s Holešovice and Karlín. In the future, the construction of the Rohan Bridge connecting Karlín and Holešovice is planned. The city is also gradually repairing the already standing bridges over the Vltava, many of which are in poor condition.
