PRAGUE

The closure of the decade begins, affecting most trains between Bohemia and Moravia

Sugar Mizzy April 5, 2021

The restriction will affect passengers in the Pardubice Region the most.

The biggest restrictions on the last ten years have been on Czech Railways since Tuesday, April 6. Tomorrow another major restriction begins in Pardubice, a month later the repair of the main corridor line in the Tichá Orlice valley. In parallel with the modification of the corridor between Poříčany and Velim, there will be a fundamental change in timetables. The restrictions will last for two years, and the traffic between Blansko and Brno will be stopped from December.

Restrictions on virtually all connections from Bohemia to Moravia will lead to extended travel times: in the case of Prague – Olomouc by about ten minutes, between Prague and Brno on most trains by twenty to thirty minutes. The biggest restrictions will affect passengers in the Pardubice region. The express trains between Prague and Brno will stop running through Pardubice for two years, then they will drive through Havlíčkův Brod. Due to the limitations of individual trains, there are also changes in time positions from Prague to the Ostrava, Wallachia and Slovácko regions.

Large restrictions on the railway corridor between Prague and Česká Třebová and Brno will not bring about a substantial reduction in travel costs after their end. However, according to the Railway Administration, billions of investments have ensured more reliable operation and greater line throughput.

“These are actions that will mainly increase the capacity of lines and their throughput,“Said Jiří Svoboda, General Director of the Railway Administration. A few minutes of reduced travel times should bring adjustments to the corridor from Blansko to Brno. Further acceleration should take place after 2023, when the Uhersko – Choceň section will begin to be modernized to a speed of 200 km / h. According to Svoboda, a fundamental change in the modification of corridor sections is the insertion of a branch, which will bring opportunities to better deal with emergency situations or in one-way traffic. “The comfort and safety of operation will increase, “ added Svoboda.

As of tomorrow, there will be a reduction in traffic in Pardubice due to modifications to the security equipment. A month later, the reconstruction of the Brandýs nad Orlicí – Ústí nad Orlicí section will begin, where there will be only single-track operation this year. In the next year and a half, the operation will be partially resumed into a double-track (thanks to the establishment of a branch at Bezpráví), but the trains will pass here at a reduced speed. The trains will pass in this less less than now.

The big ones will affect passengers elsewhere as well: there will no longer be some express connections in Prague. For example, the Western Express from Pilsen will arrive in Prague one minute before the express departs to Brno. People in the Vysočina region will not benefit from any heavier traffic: none of the express trains will stop anywhere between Kolín and Brno.

Changes in long-distance transport

With few exceptions, Ex3 trains will not run through Pardubice, ie railways Prague – Brno – Vienna – Graz and EuroCity Prague – Brno – Bratislava – Budapest, there is a transfer to the line via Havlíčkův Brod, which also applies to RegioJet trains from Prague to Brno. For the connection of Eastern Bohemia with Brno, only the line R19 Prague – Česká Třebová – Brno will be maintained in a two-hour interval, but in shifted time positions. For trains of the Ex1 Prague – Olomouc – Ostrava, Ex2 Prague – Olomouc – Púchov and R18 Prague – Olomouc – Luhačovice lines, the time positions will be adjusted, especially in the section Prague – Česká Třebová. At the Czech Railways Prague – Ostrava express trains, the stop will be extended by the Choceň station, where advantageous connections to Vysoké Mýto will be ensured. There are shifts and the Leo Express of RegioJet.

Changes in individual regional lines in the Pardubice Region

Route 010 Kolín – Pardubice – Choceň – Česká Třebová

The number of trains on the line is slightly increasing, eg at 19:32 the new Os 5029 will run from Pardubice to Chocna. The new train Os 15061 from Chocna (22:32) to Moravan (22:56) will be introduced back, from where it will continue to Holice and where it will be possible to change to Os 5069 to Pardubice (23:18). A new Os 5080 train with departure from Pardubice hl. Will be introduced for night shift transport to Kiekert in Přelouč. n. at 21:31. The times for other passenger trains will be adjusted with regard to overtaking long-distance trains. This overtaking will no longer be possible in Pardubice, where the stay of passenger trains will be reduced to minutes. Until May 3, passenger trains will run throughout the line, and from May 4 until the end of the timetable, buses will be replaced in the Choceň – Ústí nad Orlicí – Česká Třebová section according to the exclusive timetable.

Line 015 Přelouč – Heřmanův Městec

Due to the fact that the time positions of express trains stopping in Přelouč and passenger trains are fundamentally changing, a different timetable is proposed for this line compared to the present. At the same time, local needs are taken into account, such as transport to shifts to and from work in Přelouč or connections to express trains in the direction of Prague and vice versa.

Route 016 Chrudim – Moravany – Holice

Following the slight shifts of passenger trains between Pardubice and Chocní, the time positions of the Holice – Moravany and Chrudim – Moravany trains will be adjusted in a few minutes. Among the novelties is the introduction of Os 25054 in the direction from Chrudim (8:16) to Moravan (8:47), which will run on weekdays except for summer holidays. In the direction of Holice, the offer will be expanded in the evening. This weekend, the train Os 25362 to Holice (21:12) will depart from Moravan (21:00), it will depart from Holice (22:46) as Os 5069 via Moravany (23:00) to Pardubice hl. n. (23:18).

Line 018 Choceň – Vysoké Mýto – Litomyšl

The biggest changes will take place on this track. Thanks to the approach of the time positions of express trains in Choceň, transfer times will be shortened, so especially in the route Pardubice – Vysoké Mýto – Litomyšl and vice versa, the connection offer will improve. The same number of trains will be maintained on the line with a slight increase in the evening, but will not run at regular hourly intervals, but thanks to regular connecting expressways, at regular intervals repeating every two hours. Specifically, from Chocna to Vysoké Mýto (sometimes as far as Litomyšl) trains will leave at an even hour and 24 minutes and at an odd hour and 42 minutes. In the opposite direction, they will arrive in Chocna at an even hour and a 15th minute and a 59th minute.

Line 024 Ústí nad Orlicí – Mlýnický Dvůr

The biggest modification is the end of the Leo Express Orlice express trains. Departure times change slightly in response to shifts in the timetable of connecting trains on the corridor. Complete The timetable after the change is here.

Route 260 Česká Třebová – Letovice (- Brno)

Following the time shifts of the R19 express trains, which are newly meeting in Svitavy, there will be around the 40th minute every odd hour, and the diversion of most railjet and EuroCity trains from this line was to slightly adjust the passenger and express positions. Probably the biggest news will be the later evening connection between Letovice and Česká Třebová. Train 4780 will leave on weekdays and Saturdays from Letovice at 21:07, and will arrive in Česká Třebová at 21:54. The connections in Česká Třebová will be improved thanks to the acceleration of several trains between Svitavy and Česká Třebová. Specifically, Os 4770 will leave from Svitavy at 6:58, it will pass the Svitavy-Lačnov and Semanín stops and it will arrive in Česká Třebová at 7:10, which will ensure a connection to the Slovácko Express in the direction of Pardubice and Prague. The afternoon Sp 1752, which will leave Svitavy at 14:58 and arrive in Česká Třebová at 15:10, will be accelerated in a similar way, which will give me a connection to the Slovácký Express in the direction of Pardubice and Prague. And until the third, the same connection will be provided from Sp 1756, thanks to the arrival in Česká Třebová at 19:10.

Route 261 Svitavy – Polička – Žďárec u Skutče

In addition to line 018, the timetable will also be significantly modified on this line. Following the already mentioned time shifts of the R19 express trains, which will meet in Oditavy every odd hour around the 40th minute, the time positions of all trains on the line are also adjusted so that the transfer connection in Svitavy is maintained. The time positions of trains connecting Žďárec u Skutče and Polička are also changing, of course with the maintenance of connections in Žďárec u Skutče.

Changes on other lines

On the other lines in the Českotřebovsko region (direction Lanškroun and Moravská Třebová) and the Pardubice region (direction Chrudim and Hradec Králové) there will be only a few changes, especially in the early morning or late evening due to maintaining connections to long-distance trains in Pardubice. On the Týniště nad Orlicí – Choceň line, the departure of express trains from the Náchod region will be delayed approximately 20 minutes earlier in order to maintain transfer connections to the shifted express trains towards Brno. This will also force adjustments to the position of passenger trains.
