Hřib and Pecková must not lift restrictions between Prague and districts
Thus, Praguers could go to nature outside the city and the inhabitants of the mentioned districts could buy in Prague without any problems. People traveling across district borders must now have proof that they comply with the exemption from the travel ban.
Mayor Hřib announced on Sunday in a debate with the Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček (CSSD) on CNN Prima News that he and Peck’s request were sent on Friday evening. “Those people still go to Prague to work,” Hřib told the residents of the Prague-East and Prague-West districts.
He noted that according to the current wording of government regulations, these people cannot, for example, shop in Prague, even though they go to the city to work. A total of about 335,000 people live in the mentioned districts, because a large part of them commute to Prague.
Hamáček is more against it
On the other hand, the inhabitants of Prague would have more space where they can spend their free time. From Monday, according to the modified rules, recreation can be used throughout the district. This has expanded the possibilities for nature trips to one person living outside of Prague, and Praguers must remain in the city.
“Praguers are crammed with the few pieces of nature we have in Prague. At the same time, I think that going to an empty forest in the district of Prague-East or Prague-West might not be such a problem, “says Hřib.
The governor and the mayor were inspired by the case of the Brno-město and Brno-venkov districts, which are also considered one. A similar exception is the acceptance of Pilsen for trips to the hypermarket, which is located outside the city in the district of Pilsen-North.
However, Hamáček, whose resort decides on exceptions, is reserved about the matter. “We can talk about it, on the other hand, it means further mixing of the population. If we have endured it so far, then I think we will endure it for a while longer, “he responded. “I wouldn’t have to do it now,” he added.
Hamáček said that as a resident of the Prague-East district, he could not buy in the nearby business zone in Čakovice due to the measure. “I don’t know if it is necessary for the inhabitants of the districts of Prague-East and Prague-West to upload to large supermarkets on the outskirts of Prague,” he argued.
