Prague has reworked plans to expand the industrial semicircle, including a new tunnel
The design envisages tunnels in Hloubětín, to be built in 2025.
For the third time, the capital city of Prague introduced a new green design of the so-called Industrial Semicircle between the D8 motorway and the South Junction. In the part of almost nine long routes, there should be an extension by additional lanes.
Fill in the documentation for the environmental impact assessment for which the so-called investigation procedure has started. Documentation is downloadable in one file over 600 MB here. Prague must plan heavy traffic in the northeastern part of the metropolis after the completion of the Blanka tunnel complex. “Building modifications are designed with the intention of minimizing the occupation of private land and interventions in today’s buildings,“It simply came to our notice then.
The possibility of increasing the capacity of the Industrial Semi-Circuit is verified in the section of the level crossing of the South Junction with Průmyslová Street (MÚK Štěrboholská) and in the section of Průmyslová and Kbelská Streets, including both present extreme level crossings with the South Junction, resp. with Cínovecká Street and reconstruction of intersections with Kolbenová and Poděbradská Streets.
According to the design, it has a stop to increase capacity in the section between the intersections with the South Junction (MÚK Štěrboholská) and Poděbradská Street. It also has a stop in Kbelská Street between the intersections with Poděbradská Street (MÚK Poděbradská) and Kolbenová Street (MÚK Kolbenova) and then to Cínovecká Road. A fundamental change compared to the current state will be the tunnel between Poděbradská and Kolbenová.
Six lanes from the South Junction
Depending on the material, the Černokostelecká – Objízdná section should be increased to 3 + 3 lanes. The existing left turn from the Industrial Controlled Traffic Light will be replaced by a return branch from Černokostelecká, which will require the occupation of a small part of the parking lot. The bus stop to Černokostelecká in the direction of the center will be moved in the direction of travel with the withdrawal of the return branches. This will eliminate the possibility of low-intensity traffic in the direction of Černokostelecká from the center – South connection to the center. The incinerator at the incinerator should be demolished due to this.
In the direction from the South Junction, in the event of an extension, the bridge over Rokytka in front of the intersection with Poděbradská would be rebuilt. This should occur during excluded traffic. The intersection of Průmyslová Street with Poděbradská is designed as an extra-level, rhombic.
From the intersection with Poděbradská, traffic should lead through a new tunnel. “Due to the requirements of the Prague 14 district for the permeability of the area for pedestrians and cyclists across Kbelská Street, the main route runs in a sunken tunnel at a depth of approximately 9.5 m compared to the level of the existing road. The tunnel section is 640 m long (from km 4,100 to km 4,740). The original connections of the surrounding streets (“small Kbelská”, Mochovská, Zelenečská) are canceled. “Little Kbelská” street is run in parallel and connected to Zelenečská street in accordance with the current state,“It is stated in the documentation.
Kbelská Street is to be extended in the direction of the Vysočanská Radial. According to the current plan in the documentation, construction should begin in 2025.
