Prague 14: Park U Čeňku will expand. In the south, a wild part will be added
At the end of last year, another phase of revitalization and expansion of Park U Čeňku was started and work will continue this year. Park U Čeňku is located near the Maliňák pond, between Černý Most and Dolní Počernice. The revitalization of the entire area began in 2015, when the area north of Maliňák was modified. For example, children’s playgrounds with climbing frames, skittles, an outdoor chessboard or a pétanque track were created in this area.
Wild South
At the end of the year, work began on the area south of the Maliňák pond. This will be more wild than the finished northern part. The whole area was the first to cross the new backbonewhich runs through the whole area from Madarova x Dercsenyiho Street to the rain settling tank near Bryksova Street.
The new road will have a threshing surface, which means that it will be made of stones of different sizes, which will be reinforced in individual layers. In order for the whole area to be easily accessible, it will also be necessary to build additional buildings here. Above all, it will be a stone ford, a wooden pier and a bridge over the Svépravický stream.
During the year, colorful mixtures of flowering plants, such as daisy, cornflower, clover and others, were sown on selected landscaped areas. If all went well, and the plants caught on, already this spring, a visitor to Čeňek could enjoy the flowering meadows. You will be this year supplemented by forest draws consisting mainly of oaks, lindens, maples, hornbeams, cherries, larch or Douglas fir. The areas of meadows and roads will then be planted with solitary trees and alleys.
Great recreational potential
“The point of this work is simple. We’ll fix what you’ve done in the past. The whole area around the Martiňák pond also has a huge recreational potential, which will come in handy for Praguers in particular this year“Says Petr Hlubuček, Deputy Mayor for the Environment (STAN).
The differently arranged places around the Martiňák pond should also allow visitors comparison for example, what the greenery looks like in the northern part, which is visited and also chopped, compared to the wilder area in the south, where there are more areas with a natural character.
Park U Čeňku in Prague 14 was ceremoniously opened to the public.
