Czech Railways cuts railjet timetables between Prague and Austria
On the contrary, from the same data, the Metropolitan train will be renewed on the domestic section Prague – Brno / Břeclav.
Starting on Monday, February 8, Czech Railways will cut through the timetable for railjet trains, which run from Prague to Vienna and Graz, with reference to the “epidemic situation”. Instead of the previous six pairs (previously limited to eight), only three will ride. On the national section, it will replace the canceled connections of Metropolitan trains.
“We are approaching the restriction in agreement with the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) due to the lower number of passengers,” said railway spokeswoman Vanda Rajnochová. Railjet connections with departures from Prague at 4:44, 8:44 (from Tuesday, February 9) and 14:44 were dropped from the offer. This leaves trains with departures from Prague at 6:44, 10:44 and 16:44.
On the domestic section Prague – Brno / Břeclav, on the other hand, the EuroCity Metropolitan train will resume from the same dates. “Between Prague and South Moravia, ČD, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, will continue to ensure a sufficient supply of connections,” added the spokesperson.
From 8 February, the following EC / IC Metropolitan trains will be restored throughout the original route:
– in the direction Prague – Brno – Břeclav – Bratislava – Budapest: trains EC 275 and 279 (Prague – Budapest) will run along the entire route and train IC 575 (Prague – Břeclav) will also be renewed. So far, trains have not run in these sections of Prague. n. – Brno hl. n. / Břeclav.
