The Prague Market in Holešovice is a listed area in a neglected state. The capital city of Prague presented for the first time a proposal for a comprehensive reconstruction of the entire complex. Access to the complex is to be changed, new greenery is to be planted, the original buildings are to be reconstructed and new architectural elements are to be created here.
“For the first time, we are coming up with a complete development strategy for this unique complex as a whole. The aim is to fulfill its potential and return it to the people of Prague. There will be normal shops and boutiques, markets, restaurants and small bistros, as well as cultural spaces. And also beautiful outdoor spaces where you can just sit with ice cream in hand. We are already taking the first steps so that we can gradually return to life on the market. We want to open the market to people of all ages and incomes, and at the same time to ensure its economically sustainable operation in the future, “presents the vision of the city Pavel Vyhnánek, Deputy Mayor of the City of Prague. m. Prague for finance and budget.
“The result is a concept focused on a suitable combination of elements of culture, gastronomy, creative industries, business and retail with extensive opportunities for leisure. The key should still be the flexible use of the Prague Market Square with the possibility of a continuous response to the development of the requirements of society and the economy, “says Tomáš Ctibor, founder and director of 4ct.
Upon completion, the Prague Market Square should offer a mix of services that should still be available not only for local but also for foreign tourists. A retail network of gastronomic services, culture, a place for leisure activities, creative spaces, services, as well as offices and parking spaces are to be offered. Only a very small part is planned for demolition. The author of the urban-architectural study is the office of CMC architects and
