Sold to work on Twitter and plan to pay all taxes on the sale in Iceland

Haraldur Þorleifsson, the founder of Ueno, says that all taxes will be paid due to the sale to Twitter.

In a status update on Twitter, which is in English, Haraldur says that he was born in Iceland and that his parents were low-income people. In addition, he suffers from a serious disability. “But since this country offers free schools and free health care, I was able to thrive.”

That is why he is proud to report that all taxes that will be paid due to the sale of Ueno, which is a technology and design company that Haraldur founded as part of project work in 2014, will be paid in Iceland to support the systems that supported him in his time.

It was reported at the beginning of the year that the social network Twitter had confirmed the purchase of Ueno. Dantley Davis, Twitter’s design director, did so in a status update on the medium itself.

Ueno has had operations in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, as well as an office in Reykjavík, and has expanded rapidly in recent years.

The company has completed projects for many large companies, for example Google, Apple and Facebook, as well as AirBnB, Slack, Uber and many others.

According to Davis’ announcement, Haraldur and other employees will join Twitter’s design and research department, having previously performed projects for the communication medium as a contractor.

The purchase price in this transaction has not been disclosed, but Ueno turned over two successful ISK in 2019.

In the news of the technical media TechCrunch a Twitter spokesperson was quoted as saying, when the acquisition was announced, that Ueno will complete his projects for others in the coming weeks.

Afterwards, Twitter will meet with all of Ueno’s current employees to introduce them and see where and if they will go into Twitter’s activities.
