Defamation? They robbed the airport, billboards in Prague announce. The author is unknown
The creators of the website claim that due to a contract with the company on advertising space, Prague Airport loses two crowns every second. The pages are registered by Frantz Nowak according to the CZ.NIC register.
“Therefore, JCDecaux’s activity at the airport cannot be described other than that it robbed the airport,” he says web, where the same authors go to the airport management. “The crown managers (Václav) Řehoř and (Jakub) Puchalský put the crown in their efforts by terminating and competing for this facility in order to achieve full recovery of the rent due, or to terminate and compete with JCDecaux,” the creators write.
Prague Airport last week in Press Releases stated that the allegations made on the website were misleading, defamatory and damaged the company’s reputation. “Therefore, Prague Airport is already taking appropriate legal action, including the preparation of a criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator for defamation. The main goal is to clean up the good name of Prague Airport. At the same time, the company will file a complaint with the Advertising Council due to suspicion of unethical use of advertising space, “said spokesman Roman Pacvoň. He wants to legally enforce the blocking of the site, regardless of the decision of the advertising board.
In the Czech market, the BigBoard group, which is a limited player in the outdoor advertising market, has been fighting against JCDecaux for a long time. Its spokeswoman Pavlína Stránská denied that they had anything to do with the campaigns. “Our company is definitely not behind the site, nor do we believe that it is a matter of the advertising market. Upon closer study, we are given the impression that it is an effort to support employment at Prague Airport, “said Pavlína Stránská, spokeswoman for BigBoard.
The dismissal was absolutely necessary, says Prague Airport
However, according to Pacvona, (at least some) there are large-format visual surveillance on a carrier that belongs to BigBoard. Therefore, it will prompt you to delete it. “It can be assumed that the campaigns may be due to specific business interests that seek to take advantage of the current unprecedented situation caused by covid-19 to their advantage. Nevertheless, Prague Airport will not succumb to any typical pressure and its management will continue to strongly defend the company’s interests, “the spokesman added.
Prague Airport also “strongly opposes the claim that it does not act in accordance with the law and with the care of a proper manager.” According to Pacvona, the “excellent economic results” of previous years also prove it. The state-owned company has a valid contract with JCDecaux for the operation of advertisements concluded in 2012. At that time, the airport was still controlled by another management. “On the other hand, at the end of this year, BigBoard Praha will have an almost twenty-year contract with Prague Airport for the lease of outdoor advertising space,” added Pacvoň.
According to him, the airport, like all tenants and JCDecaux, is analyzing the extent to which the crisis associated with the covid-19 virus has had an impact on their business. Pacvoň also mentioned that he had reduced the number of employees (Prague Airport laid off more than 500 people as expected in the autumn) was absolutely necessary in order to obtain air traffic in connection with the travel ban in an effort to ensure the spread of coronavirus disease. “Thus, there is no direct link between the reduction in the number of jobs and the payment morale of the airport’s business partners, as the anonymous website states in a completely misleading way,” spokesman Pacvoň said.
