The tram line from Prague to Zdib got the green light
The extension of the tram line from Prague’s Kobylis to Zdib in Central Bohemia, which is planned by the Prague City Hall and the Transport Company (DPP), has undergone a process of environmental impact assessment, according to the database EIA. The project, which is to ease road traffic, can thus enter the final phase of preparation. The construction will also include suburban car parks for 1260 cars.
On Thursday, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Prague City Council issued a favorable opinion on the environmental impact assessment, which concerns the project to extend the tram line from the Kobylisy depot further towards Zdib. The new line will start in Klapkova Street, where the current tram line loop ends, and will continue through Dolní Chabry in the middle of the existing four-lane road II / 608.
The line, which is intended to relieve road traffic, will be about 5.5 kilometers long. Its construction should begin in 2024 and end a year later. The line will also include P + R terminals and car parks in Zdiby and Sedlec and a tram loop in Sedlec. The total parking capacity near the final tram stops will be 1260 places, of which 420 parking spaces in Zdiby and 840 parking spaces in Sedlec. In addition, car parks should be modular, meaning that their capacity will go further in the future.
The Kobylisy — Zdiby line is also to include four bridges, the largest of which should cross the junction with the D8 motorway at the end of the line. A footbridge for cyclists and cyclists should also be a part of this bridge.
We consider the management of Prague to be a priority for the development of the tram network. DPP recently obtained a building permit for the extension of the tram from Barrandov to Holyně, the dormitory was finally led to Sliven. The situation should start next year. At the end of November, the company also completed the extension of the line from the Prague Uprising to the Pankrác metro station, where trams should start running next year.
In addition, the municipality and DPP plan a number of other lines, for example from Modřany to Nové Dvory, from Divoká Šárka in the Dědina housing estate, through the upper part of Wenceslas Square or from Vinohradská around the main railway station to Bolzanova street.
