The carrier already has two RegioSprinter units after the repair, the third will be next week.
AŽD Praha has expanded its fleet with another locomotive. She bought the 742.119 locomotive, nicknamed the Cat or Bangle, from the Ústí Ústecká dráha company.
AŽD Praha boasted a new addition to the Twitter account of Plum Railways. “We bought it as an alternative to Bardotka 749.039, which will now mostly run in the mode of promotional or nostalgic rides,“Said Jiří Dlabaja, spokesman for AŽD Praha.
“The new purchased locomotive is fully functional, so it will be used for performances instead of Bardotka. It will serve as a backup vehicle for passenger transport on the Plum Railway, “ added Dlabaja.
In recent weeks, AŽD Praha has had to deal with a lack of deployed RegioSprinter engine units on the Plum Railroad on the connections from Litoměřice to Most. The reason was outages of contracted repair capacity due to the Covid-19 pandemic (we wrote more here). Half of the four units are already back and repaired by the company. “The third RegioSprinter will come out of the repair next week and the fourth will be after the repair at the end of January 2021, “ added Dlabaja.
