You can park for free at the Exhibition Center. The operator is changing
People are confused by the new regime. However, it does not apply to zones.
Arrive by car to the Výstaviště complex in Holešovice, park there comfortably and free of charge and go for a walk to Stromovka, for example. Most local and cross-country drivers didn’t even think about it. A few days ago, however, it began to spread in the seventh district that, according to city hall regulations, it was possible to park here free of charge and legally. However, despite many assumptions that the Metro daily discovered on social networks, for example, according to Prague 7 spokesman Martin Vokuš, this is often a misunderstanding.
“We certainly do not have free parking in the paid parking zones around the Exhibition Center. The only thing we have communicated on this topic now is the possibility of free parking in front of the Prague Exhibition Grounds every day from 5 pm to 8 am. But it is now free for everyone at the mentioned hours, only for the locals, “he tells the Metro Vokuš daily.
During normal non-coronavirus operation, this is an eternally packed car park along U Výstaviště Street. Three years ago, the seventh city district negotiated with the then car park administrator – HC Sparta Prague – favorable conditions for evening and night parking for residents. They paid twenty crowns a night for them. Now, however, the owner’s favorite car park is changing. Therefore, the town hall is offered free of charge as a potential attraction for visitors from other parts of the metropolis. “This situation should probably apply until the end of January, after which we have pre-negotiated that there will continue to be some form of discounted parking for residents,” adds Ondřej Mirovský, Prague councilor, and notes that this is the only case of favoring residents of car park operators. “In recent years, the town hall has negotiated four hundred parking spaces for residents in the underground garages in Letná. There are 150 places reserved in the garages of OC Stromovka, where residents can park for as little as twenty crowns per night, “adds Mirovský.
It should be noted that parking spaces in garages in Letná are long-term rentals of parking spaces, which are only discounted for residents. The capacity is currently full, and as the representatives of the town hall admit, they are still negotiating with the operator about possible possibilities of increasing it. In this style, there are essentially no special places for residents in the metropolis. The residences have a discounted parking space in the zones only compared to the subscribers. In addition to disputes, their annulment also happened during this year’s state of emergency.
In recent days, the expansion of the zone in Prague 10 has also been addressed. In the first half of 2021, they will apply to the entire planned area of the city district. After Vinohrady, Vršovice, Strašnice and Malešice, it is the turn of Záběhlice, Zahradní Město, Bohdalec and other locations south of the train corridor. These are summarized in stages, which take the form of local comments until January 8.
