The camera in Prague captured a bright bolide, it was visible despite the light smog
The bolide appeared on the camera at three-thirty in the morning. He was visible for a long time despite the light smog that was over the city. He brightened up the most when he flew over the Žižkov television tower.
“We have very detailed records of bolus of all kinds, from photography and video to spectral and detailed photometric records. We are still working on processing the results, “said iDNES.cz Pavel Spurný, Head of the Department of Interplanetary Matter of the Astronomical Institute.
According to Spurný, there are records of observations of the bolide from all over the Czech Republic. It was clear in most areas.
“At one point, it was brighter than the full moon,” Spurný added, adding that the institute would publish more detailed information later.
The camera that captured the car is used by the Department of Atmospheric Physics to monitor phenomena in the atmosphere above Prague. Together, they have four deployed around the world.
“It was so clear that it was seen all over Central Europe, I know from a colleague that it was recorded by cameras in Austria as well. We haven’t seen such a bright car on our cameras yet, “added Peter Huszár, Deputy Head of the Department.
It’s the second bright meteor in a short time. At the beginning of November, a ball-sized space body flew over the Jizera Mountains, where several parts of it landed.
