Renew the suspension of blue zones in cities, Petříček demands the cabinet
Petříček, Deputy Chairman of the Social Democracy, stated that people do not drive cars unnecessarily during a state of emergency. “Most of the time, they really need to supply their loved ones or take care of something important. It is useless to make it difficult for them. I am proposing that the Ministry of Prague temporarily also collect Havles’ parking fees in the zones, “he said.
According to him, the step turned out in the spring and did not adapt to the problems in the cities. “The number of cars and the number of passengers in public transport is decreasing significantly, I consider it a good symbolic step and support for sensible behavior during a pandemic, it will only have positive effects, the choice of the same parking lot would decrease,” said Petříček.

The government canceled the spring zones on March 16, later resuming the end of the emergency, but eventually hastened it. She justified this with requests from the municipalities. The state of emergency currently applies from October 5 to November 20. However, due to the maintenance of anti-epidemic measures, the Cabinet is expected to ask the House to extend it again. The deputy prime minister and head of the CSSD, Jan Hamáček, said at the weekend that it could last until Christmas.
The Prague City Hall stated in mid-October that it would not disrupt the parking zones yet. The reason is that government measures have not yet completely stopped life and the economy in the Czech Republic, people go to work and back home, where the abolition of the zone would complicate their parking. During the spring suspension of the zone, the capital lost more than 140 million crowns in fees.
At the beginning of October, Petříček announced that he would not defend his position in the narrowest leadership of the CSSD at next year’s congress. Czech Television has announced that it will instead use the presidency of the government organization in Prague.
