Coronavirus in Prague: There were 15,500 cases a week
In the capital, there were 15,500 cases of covid-19 in the past seven days, about 4,500 more than a week ago. The daily increases of new infections this week were the highest since the beginning of the epidemic, which began in the Czech Republic last spring. The number of new cases of coronavirus per 100,000 population per week increased to 1,163 in Prague, a week earlier the incidence number was 824. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health.
In the two days of last week, the increase in coronavirus cases in Prague exceeded three thousand. They reached the highest on Thursday, when tests revealed 3080 diseases, which was the most in the metropolis so far. The ministry records only a slightly lower increase in the number of infected on Tuesday, namely 3001. In previous waves of the epidemic at the beginning of this year, there were a maximum of 2,065 new cases from 5 January and 2,047 from 23 February.
Overall, the metropolis has been demonstrably infected since last spring covid 242,211 people, of whom 2,947 died in connection with the disease. 44 people have died with coronavirus in the past seven days, 47 deaths a week earlier. However, with subsequent updates, this information usually changes.
Vaccination
Since the start of the covid vaccination at the end of last December, medics in the capital have given over 2.47 million injections of the vaccine. In the last week, they applied about 56,300 doses, about 7,700 more in the week.
