Prague with Citybuses, the official farewell ends on Saturday
DPP gradually bought almost four hundred low-cost buses from Vysoké Mýto, bringing a fundamental change in the quality of travel: they were the first floor buses.
Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague (DPP) will officially close one of the significant periods of bus transport in the capital on Saturday. It will officially end the operation of Citybus buses, which were the first massively expanded low-floor cars in Prague’s public transport.
DPP already started selling special ride ticketswhich will be the last of this series in DPP colors. For fifty crowns, those interested will take a farewell ride on the Citybus 12M with registration number 3408 for about an hour on the route Vozovna Střešovice – Na Petřinách – Libocká – Stochovská – Atletická and AO Strahov.
Irisbus Citybus 12M (formerly Renault Citybus 12M, in France Renault Agora S) was the first low-floor bus to expand significantly in Prague. It was manufactured in Vysoké Mýto from 1995 to 2005. Most buses were already sold or scrapped by DPP, among the buyers was, for example, the recently Transport Company of Most and Litvínov. Currently, DPP has only 6 of these buses.
DPP gradually bought a total of almost four of these buses, some of which were articulated. They were gradually replaced by SOR buses.
