Open House Prague 2020 in summer. I offer Pragovka and a tour of Štenc’s house
The organizers have prepared a number of walks and tours of objects from the program for eager visitors in the summer months. “As the festival could not take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic in May, we decided to respond to the great interest of the people and prepare several tours and walks of the buildings in the summer. At the same time, we cater to all those who want to offer a chamber tour of the buildings with a guide and the possibility of prior ticket booking, “festival director Andrea Šenkyříková.
Open House Prague will offer on Saturday, August 8 from 3.30 pm visitation Štenc’s house with the architect Mária Maninová, who was in charge of the reconstruction of the premises for the headquarters of the business club Opero. The modern house, built for both living and work, was designed for Jan Štenc, the owner of the largest printing company in Central Europe, by the Czech architect Otakar Novotný. He used unconventional gray masonry on the façade in Bohemia. Today, a hundred years later, the recently renovated building continues the tradition of meetings. You are here a coworking space with vibrant life and creativity. During the tour it will be possible to see the main area, where the printing workshop, meeting rooms, outdoor atrium with a fountain, cafe and terrace were originally located, from where there is a beautiful view of the entire courtyard.
On Tuesday, August 18, from 4.30 pm, it will be possible to go for a walk dedicated to the industrial history of Vysočany, which will end with a tour Pragovky. The former industrial complex, where the legendary Praga cars were manufactured, is undergoing a gradual transformation. Today, a new, vibrant art district – Pragovka Art District – is emerging in the heart of Vysočany, which uses the First Republic factory halls to meet and create independent artists from various fields, from painters, photographers to fashion designers.
The August tasting will end on the last day of the month, on Monday 31 August from 5 pm, commented ride on the historic steamer Vltava. As the river shaped life and the appearance of the metropolis, it will be able to take part in more than a two-hour ride. The historic paddle steamer Vltava is one of the last two paddle steamers still in operation.
