There is already a footbridge at Vršovice railway station. Cashier: Explaining the way to people was not tiring
The complete reconstruction of the Vršovice railway station began last March and is related to the project of a modern corridor between Hostivaří and Prague’s main railway station. After the reconstruction is completed, it is expected that the station in Vršovice will have four platforms, as the first platform with direct access from the building will be preserved.
However, the management of the metropolis entered the project, saying that it wants to maintain the “controversial” 4th platform so that the suburban lines S8 (from Modřany and Braník) and S88 (from Dobříš) have a place to stop. Otherwise, the trains would continue without stopping until “Hlavák”. Without an additional platform, traveling from people in Vršovice and the surrounding area could become even more complicated. Thus, the surrounding inhabitants had to “just” endure a miserable road, which took almost a quarter of an hour instead of a couple, and it was better to use public transport to transfer from the station building on the platform.

The municipal company Ropid, which organizes public transport in Prague and its surroundings, was still facing dissatisfied discussants when Monday’s news was announced. Some of them claimed that whoever came up with the current solution deserved a blow.
“What you perceive as something in the morning was the effort to immediately build the station in a prospective form in a larger capacity, and with that, a stage without stopping the S8 and S88 lines in Všovice was not necessary,” explained Ropid representatives.

The railway administration also decided to build a temporary footbridge due to negative reactions from the public. According to the plans of the state organization, Vršovice and Nusle will later connect the underpass, which will be created by the reconstruction and extension of the new underpass. In Vršovice, it ends to the right next to the station building. And what about the distant future, when the metro line D could be prepared on Bratří Synků Square?
“From the new subway, it will be the shortest way to Čestmírova street to the planned station. The footbridge really won’t stay when there is an extended barrier-free operation, which will also allow direct passage between the two sides, “adds Ropid.
Judging by the comments under the city company’s contribution, not only passengers were looking forward to the opening of the temporary overpass on Monday. Annie BeeGee Bydžovská, who works for ČD on the footbridge, was also “unbelievably” looking forward to the discussion.
