Welcome to the green heart of Prague! Riegrovy sady came alive with beer, there will also be concerts

Sugar Mizzy May 17, 2020

“Welcome to the green heart of Prague!” Invites the official Facebook profile of the “open air pub in Riegráč”. After the private owner of the land in the listed park in the second part of the city did not extend the contract to the previous tenant and negotiations with the town hall on the sale did not reach a clear conclusion, the whole season was abandoned in a beautiful and quiet environment under the open sky and mature trees.

At the same time, several hundred people used to live here, especially at large sporting events. And the place often roared, which was heard in Vinohrady and Žižkov. The garden restaurant was sought after by the inhabitants and the visitors of the metropolis. The official capacity was about 1,400 seats, but often the area “abducted” the presence of more guests.

Praguers are looking forward: Let’s go for a beer! The gardens in Žižkov and the “Riegráč” will open

“We invite you to a natural sitting, which Praguers have enjoyed since 1933. We look forward to all our neighbors, visits from other parts of Prague, the Czech Republic and abroad. Enjoy pleasant moments under almost a century of chestnut trees! ”Offer the operators on social networks. The new gardens attract “first-class Plzeňský Prazdroj, lots of great food and unique cultural events”. The menu also includes coffee, Aperol Spritz or homemade cakes and buns.

The operator’s father became famous for banning children from entering the pub

David Salomon, among others, is behind the current project, which, after almost two years, is helping to revive Rieger’s orchards. By the way – his father, as a Prague restaurateur, was famous for banning children from entering his company Stodola House in Háje, also because of the anti-smoking business. The Czech Trade Inspection Authority fined Salomon the elder. The entrepreneur also runs the Severka restaurant, where the popular series Most! and which operates as a smoking club.

Salomon Jr. and his colleagues found out that he had – since the time of the First Republic – fantastic acoustics on the stage in Reigrovy sady, where sports broadcasts, films and occasional musical or theatrical performances took place there. That is why the head of culture at Riegrovy sady Park has announced that a series of music concerts called Music in the Park is being prepared, which will be started on June 16 by the band Chinaski.

“From June to August it will be played up to twice a week and you can also look forward to Anna K, Mirai, Banjo band Ivan Mládek, Robert Křesťan and Druhá ią and other stars,” write the organizers from BrainZone and TicketLive !, where it will be possible buy tickets.

Tables with seating and sufficient spacing are already ready in Riegrovy sady. “We coordinate the organization of the concerts with the authorities and ensure safe conditions for the spectators,” said Salomon, adding that all hygienic measures will be followed to reduce the risk of infection with the new type of coronavirus.

Indoor bands only play for a few people

The Ministry of Health has allowed regular mass events of up to 300 people since May 25, if the epidemiological situation regarding the infectious disease covid-19 is further favorable, the capacity will increase to 500 people from June 8 and up to a thousand at concerts from June 22 guests.

“Attractive location and a limited number of people on site can create a unique concert atmosphere that will probably not be repeated in the future. When can you see indoor bands that only play for a few people? ”Says Martin Pokorný, director of BrainZone Services.

The picturesque Severka restaurant is also in Prague. They are showing the popular series Most!

On the site of the defunct Švihanka homestead, there once stood the Happy Inn, which in 1934 was modernly rebuilt by the architect František Marek, and according to the then tenant, it was called Šretr’s restaurant. Dance parties, balls, slaughterhouses or association events took place here, and the First Republic Cream House enjoyed a beautiful view of the historical center of Prague on the large terrace. In the main part of the summer garden there was a music pavilion and a large dance floor, on which roller skates were danced daily.

In recent years, the City Hall of Prague 2 has considered that it would unify the property of the former Šretra restaurant and reconstruct it so that it resembles the buildings from the 1930s as much as possible. But the plans were thwarted by the aforementioned unsuccessful negotiations with the Austrian company Z-Invest, which owns the key plots of land in the middle of the park.
