The probes will check what is under the route of the future City Circuit. Prague will pay 22 million for them – ČT24 – Czech Television
The geological survey will take place in three stages, the most annual – and the most expensive for the city – between the Balabenka and the Southern Link. It will cost about half of the total amount, half will go to the section from Balabenka to Blanka and also to Libeňská spojka, which should in the future serve as a bypass of V Holešovičkách Street and bring cars from the inner ring road to Liberecká Street.
A consortium of SG Geotechnika and PUDIS intends to plan new capacity roads to conduct probes. Therefore, excavated galleries will not be created, such as during surveys for the Radlická radial or metro D.
About 81 probes will be used for geophysical, hydrogeological and corrosion surveys. The city wants to know which rocks are in the subsoil and what their properties and strength are. “It will also show how detailed geological maps are today. The stray currents will also be investigated, “summed up the Deputy Mayor for Transport Adam Scheinherr (Prague himself).
Tunnels exceeding eight kilometers in length
The total length of the part of the City Ring Road that needs to be completed exceeds ten kilometers. Last year, the current management of Prague had the original project redesigned and the length of the tunnels substantially increased. Under the requirements of the current team, drivers should spend almost the entire journey from Holešovičky to Strašnice – the total length of the tunnels will reach 8.5 kilometers.
It is not yet clear when the geological survey will be completed. According to the contract, it will take ten months. According to a document approved by the city council, it should not have started until April.
The municipality is now proposing to change the zoning plan, which it must build before. “Documentation for the zoning decision is being prepared, and the above-mentioned survey is being carried out as part of the preparation,” said Deputy Scheinherr. The construction costs have not yet been quantified, but they speak of up to 100 billion crowns.
In that case, the northern and eastern parts of the City Ring Road would be more than double compared to the Blanka tunnel complex, which is also shorter (six kilometers).
The circuit has been under construction since the 1970s
The city ring of Prague has been under construction since the late 1970s, when – after the city gradually abandoned the older concepts and decided on a system of two circuits supplemented by radials – the South Link and the adjoining Antonín Zápotocký Bridge (now Barrandov Bridge) began to grow. The Strahov tunnel was created in the 1990s, followed by the Mrázovka tunnel and the Zlíchov tunnel.
Since 2015, the Blanka complex has been in operation, which opens into the Holešovičky area or the Pelc-Tyrolka junction. For now, it is possible to drive along the circuit from the Strašnice-Hostivař border to Troja, but along a long route through Smíchov and Břevnov. In total, it is about 22 kilometers.
