Frightening criminologists’ statistics: Last year, 22 homicides took place in Prague and more took place
While the police in Prague recorded 4,395 burglaries the year before last, last year it was 507. The number without theft1 increased by 65 to 23,164. In total, police recorded 33,746 property crimes last year, 1,800 more than a year earlier.
There were also more murders in the metropolis last year, at five to 22. 16 of them have been clarified so far. The number of violent crimes has increased slightly, compared to the previous year, there were 58 more, ie 1,497.
There was more in Prague last year also recorded economic crimes. There were 6688 of them, for example an increase of 243. There was also a significant increase in unconstitutional acts, such as support or financing of terrorism or approval of genocide. While the previous year, police in the capital dealt with six such acts, last year there were 39. According to statistics, only about seven percent of them were clarified.
Crime increased throughout the Czech Republic – by 3.5 percent to 199,221 crimes. More crimes were registered in all regions with the testimony of Liberec and Zlín. Property crimes accounted for the largest share of crimes last year. The only areas of crime where police officers saw a slight decline were economic crimes, ie fraud or embezzlement. Last year, crime in the Czech Republic was last committed in 2013.
