Living in the center is no win. Residents of Prague 1 do not have to sue the municipality
According to the petitioner, the subject of the action should be “long-term neglect of duties leading to the ongoing destruction of resident life”. According to Kuchta, the center was basically swallowed up by “octopuses”, controlled by unscrupulous businessmen, developers, tourists and a decadent alcoholic culture, with longer authorities led by the municipality and the city police reportedly resigning to enforcing the laws.
The activist does not consider the latest regulations that the city is introducing or considering in this area to be very meaningful. “For example, the recently banned pandas are tasteless, but at the same time quiet and happy for children. Their ban is populist. Rather, the city should ensure that companies comply with applicable laws and, if necessary, ensure soundproofing, for example, “said Kuchta, who considers noise and vibration to be the main problem for residents.
It only takes up cold water
Because of this, he himself wears large anti-noise headphones in the apartment day and night, and for years he practically does not open windows, even in summer. “The main sources of noise they consider necessary are roaring people in the center, the so-called dozen dozen music from clubs, restaurants and cars. Furthermore, the honking of cars, which have become a new type of social communication or engines of cars and motorcycles, circling at night, for example in the Dlouhá area. And during the day, beer carts are added to it, “added Kuchta, according to whom he does nothing real about the” chronic and complex “situation city and approaches the problems of residents superficially and uninitiated.
“Of course, we deal with these matters, we also treat them with the town hall in Prague 1 – for example, the issue of disturbing the night’s rest via Airbnb is being addressed intensively by Deputy Mayor Pavel Nazarský. Of course, it will be a bit of a long-distance run, “Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) responded to Kucht’s criticism, noting the already enforced ban on the movement of” beer wheels “in the monument reserve. According to Hřib, it should be enforced from next season after the installation of the relevant brands.
“A morning trip with the children to kindergarten is a real challenge for us. We regularly cross shards, vajgles, vomit. As a mother of small children, I have a weaker sleep, and when you add the night noise from exuberant tourists, it’s no wonder that I haven’t slept properly for at least four years. I have already poured cold water out the window on the celebrating groups several times. It doesn’t matter, because they can’t even hear me, “confided Petra Němečková, who lives in Karolíny Světlé Street.
The peak of night traffic is said to always occur between two and six in the morning, and the situation is exacerbated by the existence of six liquor stores in the vicinity.
Police officers should be stronger
Critics blame the alleged inaction of the hygiene station, which should control noise limits, and especially the city police, which they say should be tougher in punishing “misdemeanor” crime, such as street urination, destruction of property, disturbance of the night, senseless car problems, and similarly.
“We certainly agree that we cannot be together in all places. In the first nine months of this year, however, police officers in Prague 1 detected almost 78,000 offenses, which was a fine of approximately one third of them, “said Irena Seifertová, a spokeswoman for the Municipal Police, noting that ascending assistance of the church in this locality.
According to her, the transformation of the center is not only “in the hands of the city police”. According to Seifert, the most frequently solved violations in the area of public order in the first part of the city include disturbing the night quiet, polluting the public space or consuming alcohol in places where it is prohibited by the decree.
“Recently, however, we must also focus our activities more on busking (in connection with the amendment to the decree). increase in the number of towing vehicles parked illegally in residential (blue) paid parking zones. It is therefore logical that if we have to address new priorities and still with the same number of employees, we cannot address all the remaining areas as intensively as we have done so far, “explained a spokeswoman for the city police.
The night mayor is also defending himself
Kuchta also criticizes the role of the so-called night mayor, who is employed by the councilor for culture Hana Třeštíková (Prague herself) in the position of assistant. “Night Mayor” Jan Štern reflects the arguments that he didn’t do much in the first half of the year. According to him, one of the biggest successes is the agreement with clubs in Dlouhá and its surroundings on a joint effort to cultivate guests.
“We have agreed on basic rules and measures that the clubs implement themselves, which will help cultivate the local nightlife and help calm the area for local residents. The second success is the launch of an information campaign aimed at visitors to Prague’s nightlife. The purpose of the campaign is not only to inform guests about the rules that apply in Prague, but also to break down the image of Prague as a party of the city, where one can afford more than elsewhere. We want to expand the campaign even further in the future, “said Štern.
“In the past, councilors decided to rehabilitate the entire district, today they cannot even regulate the composition of shops in the city center. Its leadership should have more courage to regulate tourism and business at the center. Specifically, Prague 1 would deserve a special and prestigious police unit, because the center has developed very special conditions related to tourism, business and entertainment. And there could be two full-time officials at the municipality to solve the problems of residents from the center, a specific, beaten and neglected variety of people. It would also require more communication between the City Hall and the City Hall of Prague 1, “added Štěpán Kuchta, according to which the city should receive inspiration from citizens based on a specific life.
