Babiš: Prague should convert the Bulovka buildings to the state behind the crown
“If we can’t agree on Letňany, then I hope that the municipality will be aware that everything is standing here,” Babiš said. He thus came across Prague’s preferred opportunity to build a new hospital on land in Letňany, where the Prime Minister is promoting an office district.
Two thirds of the buildings in the complex belong to the capital, where the tenant’s hospital pays, the rest is hers. The situation cannot be resolved in the long run. “We will look for a shift solution, but we can’t wait long. And Prague should participate in investments, for example in surgery, “said Vojtěch. About 500 million crowns would need to be invested in the reconstruction of the surgery pavilion.
“The capital city of Prague has long been interested in exchanging property with the state, but it will have to be very complex. Among other things, we will have to address the issue of Faust’s house with a medical VFN or land on the premises of the Vinohrady hospital, “answer Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) to the government delegation through the Prague Daily.
According to Hřib, however, the Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) blocked all exchanges between the city and the state. “I therefore propose that the Prime Minister instruct the director of ÚZSVM Kateřina Arajma to launch long-prepared property shifts and that we be able to find assets that the state will exchange for buildings that will make sense in addressing Prague’s strategic goals, such as the housing crisis.” added the mayor of Prague.
Prague subsidizes an ambulance
Mushroom also defends Babiš’s accusation that the capital does not contribute to health care in Prague. According to the mayor, for example, the municipality “generously finances”, for example, the Prague ambulance service, which – as Hřib claims – has the best travel times in the country. “In 2019, the capital specifically contributed 310 million crowns to Prague rescuers, our revenues from health insurance companies amounted to only 165 million crowns,” the mayor added, adding that a large investment in the new rescue headquarters is also being prepared.
According to the hospital management, about 6.5 million crowns need to be invested in the complex. About 2.8 million investments are needed in city buildings. The hospital also wants to invest in the expansion of the midwifery center, where women give birth only with the help of a midwife, but a doctor is also available in case of complications. About 600 births are expected this year, according to the director of the hospital, Jan Kvaček, the interest mostly exceeds the capacity. Based on the experience from Bulovka, the Ministry of Health is also preparing an instruction for the introduction of a similar approach in other maternity hospitals.
Last year, the hospital ended up with a loss of almost 260 million crowns, its debts were over 960 million crowns, of which more than three quarters were overdue. It bought receivables for 450 million crowns and bought one bank and spread the installments to the hospital over eight years. It wants to proceed with another 500 million commitments. The annual turnover is 3.2 billion crowns.
Bulovka. I was shocked that in 1931 it was the most modern hospital in Europe. That’s not really true anymore. But after negotiations with the management, we know what to do. @adamvojtechano will write @ZdenekHrib and asks him to transfer Bulovka to the state. Maybe for 1 CZK. Or a shift. The hospital must have one master. pic.twitter.com/JPafq4LR7L

Due to the debts caused by the hospital’s management and low reimbursements from health insurance companies, the hospital has no money for its own investments. However, a project has been prepared since 2007 for the construction of an emergency room, where patients could come to the emergency room and at the same time bring ambulances.
In the last two weeks, three Prague hospitals have presented Babiš and Vojtěch with similar projects. The building of the trauma center for the treatment of the most serious injuries in the Royal Vinohrady University Hospital should cost about seven billion crowns, almost half of the beds will be moved there. Babiš promised to look for state money for the construction.
During a visit to Prague hospitals, the Prime Minister will get acquainted with other upcoming projects. Thomayer Hospital in Krč is preparing an emergency admission facility worth a billion crowns, building insulation and a lung clinic repair. During a visit to the General University Hospital on Friday, he talked about the sale of some buildings outside the complex near Charles Square and the construction of new ones. The VFN has also started the construction of an emergency room. These are one of the ministry’s priorities, they will also support them with European money.
