In the future, other routes are to be electrified, including bus number 199 from Veleslavín at the airport in Ruzyně.
The trolleybus is driven by an electric motor, which is powered either by the trolley or by built-in batteries. During braking, the electric motor acts as a generator. The energy produced is used, for example, for the vehicle’s own consumption, namely for powering the on-board network or heating, recharging the batteries and possibly recuperation into the overhead contact line. The range of batteries without electric heating is 18 kilometers and with heating 12 kilometers. The car is equipped with a wheelchair ramp.
“We are working on a new overall alternative drive concept in Prague’s public transport with a view to 2030, which we will present this autumn.
The city administration has approved the electrification of line 119 to the airport and is also planned for buses number 131 and 191. According to Witowski, trolleybuses should run in the northeast of the city on line number 140. “We do not want to go to the opposite extreme for other alternative drives, such as hydrogen, “said Witowski.
