A fly describes a circle. Prague offered Moravský Krumlov a temporary return of the epic — ČT24 — Czech Television
The offer and possible agreement should ease the disputes that have been going on between Prague and Moravský Krumlov for several years. “The Slavic epic is among the cultural symbols of this country. Arguing and judging because of her is a shame and nonsense. That’s why we started to negotiate favorably with all parties and I hope that we will soon come to a reasonable solution,” said Prague councilor Hana Třeštíková (Praha sebo).
For paintings, according to the capital’s management, it is necessary to ensure a constant temperature in the range of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius, humidity of 45 to 55 percent with a minimum daily fluctuation and proper lighting. It is also necessary to protect the paintings against fire and possible damage or vandalism. From a security point of view, however, according to the management of the metropolis, none of the above is currently available in Krumlov – and the castle does not even have adequate heating or cooling.
Krumlov wants to meet the Prague conditions
The deadline for raising the money offered to the Moravian city to re-exhibit Much’s cycle runs until the end of April this year. If Moravský Krumlov receives funding in the order of tens of millions, the metropolis will continue negotiations on exhibiting paintings. If Krumlov met the conditions, the epic would head back to Znojmo for about five years.
And the city is interested in canvases; according to Mayor Tomáš Třetina (TOP 09), I will ensure the preparation of the exhibition spaces and provide guaranteed financing by the deadline: “We have been negotiating with the Prague leadership since the municipal elections and they are very solid negotiations. The epic will be in the east wing in the knight’s hall. Providing lighting, air conditioning and heating will cost thirty million crowns.”
The knight’s hall has already undergone reconstruction and, according to the mayor, only the necessary equipment for exhibition is missing. The city is to agree with the region and the Ministry of Culture on the thirty million dollar investment. “I assume that the preparation will take a year, so it would be an epic in Krumlov from next year,” said Třetina.
