Monet + will supply Prague with an opencard even though the tender has been canceled
Tens of thousands of opencards will be delivered to the capital by the existing supplier, Monet +, for 4.8 million crowns. Despite the fact that the city canceled the tender from which the new supplier was to emerge and in which only Monet + applied. According to a spokeswoman for the municipality of Tereza Králové, the cards were in danger of running out, so she preferred to sign a contract with the company for another six months on August 23.
The announcement of the conclusion of the contract was published today by the Prague City Council on the official notice board. Spokeswoman Králová specified that the company Monet + will produce 80,000 cards for Prague. She added that the metropolis intends to announce a new tender only after the autumn meeting of the city council, which should formulate a new concept of the card.
The city has great difficulty finding a card supplier. Because of this, it cancels one tender after another. Their infamous endings are justified by the small number of applicants. Before canceling the contract for 4.8 million crowns, a four-year tender for 100 million crowns flew off the table in June. Although five companies applied, Czech Post, Wincor Nixdorf and Monet + were among them, but three of them were excluded.
