Who will Babiš send to the fight for Prague? Nacher has the best chance, but I want others to succeed
The troubles of the YES movement with the search for the leader of the Prague candidates are probably over. The chairman of the movement and the resigned prime minister Andrej Babiš leaves the choice of leader to the party primaries, to whom Prague councilors Eva Kislingerová, Libor Hadrava, Karel Grabein Procházka and MP Patrik Nacher applied.
According to information from the E15 daily, Nacher is the biggest favorite primary, which comes at the end of next week.
The current mayor Adriana Krnáčová, who announced her departure from politics, is already supporting the deputies. “I don’t want to be in such an environment for another four years, where one is responsible for things that one has no chance to influence,” Krnáčová said in a media statement.
The mayor also wants to convince the other members to choose Nacher. “I was pleased with the mayor’s support because it can lead to a stronger team that will be able to withstand all challengers,” Nacher told E15, adding that he would relinquish his mandate if he received a mayoral chain.
However, the Prague leadership of the movement is just getting ready for a meeting with Babiš, where they will discuss the mayoral candidates. According to Nacher, he has not yet negotiated with Babiš. This is crucial because the statutes of the YES movement from last year give Babiš the right to veto, and can thus move with the order of the candidates, appoint their own candidates or even eliminate others.
But Babiš tried to use his influence on the form of the candidate in another way. As four years ago, this year Babiš wanted to attract famous personalities to her leadership, such as the ministry of Robert Pelikán and Martin Stropnický or the head of the Central European Pepsi, Josef Neumann. However, everyone rejected him. Four years ago, Krnáčová herself was the third choice after the expressor Jan Kasl and the entrepreneur Martina Schopperová.
