Prague will create a card for tourists, it will serve as a ticket to the museum, a public transport ticket and a souvenir
Prague councilors approved a new multi-purpose card for tourists. The card will work as a ticket to the sights or as a public transport ticket. The new card should be owned exclusively by the capital, including copyright and license rights. The estimated cost of creating the project is two million crowns. In the future, the card should earn itself.
Prague – Prague will create a new multi-purpose card for tourists. The management costs could be two million crowns and its creation should be coordinated by the municipal company ICT Operator. The creation of the new card was approved by Prague councilors. The Prague Card and the Prague City Pass, which are operated by private companies, still operate in Prague.
“I am convinced that such a card has potential, both financially and in terms of data, as we will obtain a lot of useful information from the field of tourism,” said Councilor Jan Wolf (KDU-ČSL / Trojkoalice).
The city had a new card made to create it. It follows that the cards issued so far are unpromising for Prague. In addition, they would probably not receive copyright and property rights from private companies. Last year, about 51,000 of the current ones were sold. “Amsterdam, for example, has sold 175,000 of them, while it has about 600,000 less visitors than Prague. I am convinced that our card will have the potential to sell 250,000 units, which will increase,” said Wolf.
In the case of a new card, the city is preparing to create its physical and electronic form. Tourists will use it as a ticket to monuments and as a public transport ticket. According to Wolf, the plastic card could also serve as a souvenir. “We know that people often hide it, so it will also function as a souvenir, for example in the form of Hradčany and the like,” he said.
The new card should be owned exclusively by the capital, including copyright and license rights. “A suitable solution for the creation of a new Prague tourist card is the use of the ICT Operator to provide technical aspects. Business and organizational matters could be provided through the organization PIS-PCT (Prague City Tourism),” the document approved by the councilor. .
A working group should now be set up, comprising representatives of the municipality and the municipal companies ICT Operator and PIS-PCT. The estimated cost of creating the project is two million crowns. In the future, the card should earn itself.
