The government provides high-speed rail, a network of high-speed rail costs 650 billion
The government has approved material for the construction of high-speed rail. The network of high-speed railways connecting the Czech railways to the surrounding states is to cost 650 billion crowns. The connections connect Czech agglomerations to Germany in the north via Dresden and in the south via Domažlice. The route from Dresden is to continue through Prague and Brno and Břeclav with an alternative continuation to Vienna and Bratislava. The last considered connections are to go from Brno to Katowice, Poland, and from Prague to Wroclaw.
It is not yet possible to say exactly when it will be possible to start the journey for trains running at speeds of more than 300 kilometers. According to the Minister of Transport Dan Ťok, the Ministry is preparing a substantive bill, which should speed up the preparations for large constructions in this way. Under current legislation, preparations for the start of construction would take ten to 15 years, the minister added. However, the new law, which will be dealt with by the next cabinet, could prepare Ťok to speed up significantly.
The first line that should be created is the connection of Berlin via Dresden with Prague. According to Ťok, the announcement of the transfer of this project in our western neighbors from the group of potential needs to urgent needs is about to fall. This would make the Germans start this line faster, “said Ťok. A feasibility study is currently being carried out for it on the Czech side.
The ministerial material then also deals with the price of high-speed train travel in the Czech territory and assumes that the operation of all trains will not need to be subsidized. According to preliminary calculations, the price of tickets should not be too conventional on the railways and should be based on the current price of 0.93 crowns per kilometer for each passenger. When traveling abroad, the office allows a higher price depending on the level of usual wages and prices for the use of transport infrastructure.
