Chládek & Tintěra refuse to give up, they want to block the railway tender
The case of the canceled railway contract for the completion of the fourth corridor in Prague will be completed by the Antimonopoly Office. The Litoměřice company Chládek & Tintěra turned to Brno, which offered the lowest price in the billion-dollar competition and was also recommended as the winner by the selection committee.
However, instead of concluding the contract, the railway administration canceled the competition. The reason was “the inability to clearly assess the qualifications”. The construction company considers this to be an illegal act of arbitrariness and has objected to the cancellation of the competition. The railway administration rejected her objection at the end of last week. “We looked for the objection of one of the bidders against the decision to cancel the competition as unfounded. As soon as possible, we will announce a new order according to new, stricter and unambiguous rules, “said SŽDC spokeswoman Kateřina Šubová.
But the announcement of a new tender may be delayed. In its submission to the Office for the Protection of Competition yesterday, the company, in addition to reviewing SŽDC’s procedure, is also demanding the issuance of a preliminary measure that would prevent railway workers from announcing a new tender to resolve the case. This creates a paradoxical situation. Among other things, SŽDC justified the cancellation of the contract on the grounds that the construction would be hampered by the dismissal of unsuccessful bidders and delays at the antitrust office. The Minister of Transport Dan Ťok also criticized the railway workers’ action. The departmental inspection has not yet published the results of its activities.
The company Chládek & Tintěra offered to build a section from Hostivař to Vršovice for 3.4 billion crowns. It was the only one to fall below the expected 3.6 billion. Other offers were significantly higher, Eurovia finished second in association with Strabag with a price of 4.3 billion.
The giant railway construction will transform the city’s public transport |

The connection of the South Bohemian corridor to Prague will bring great changes in urban and suburban transport. The six-kilometer section from Hostivař to Vršovice will be four-track, and upon completion it will avoid the Prague Strašnice stop, which will be canceled. On the contrary, the newly established stops Zahradní Město and Praha Eden, the Vršovice railway station will undergo a complete reconstruction. A public transport interchange will be established in Zahradní Město. Optimistic scenarios envisage the start of construction this year, after the cancellation of the tender, the deadline for laying the foundation stone is postponed by at least half a year. |
