Flights to Canada will be added to Prague, and airlines are responding to higher demand
From this summer, Prague will have a significantly richer offer of direct flights to Canada. Airlines are increasing the number of frequencies from one to five weeks. Overseas airlines are thus responding to higher demand from tourists.
Air Transat, which has been operating a summer flight once a week between Prague, Toronto and Montreal since 2014, will add one weekly frequency to its network. The only link that connected Toronto and Montreal by a cross-country flight in Canada after the ocean will be divided into two. The first flight to Toronto is scheduled for the end of May, and to Montreal for the end of June.
Air Canada Rouge, a subsidiary of Air Canada, will also appear on the market. A Boeing 767 for 282 passengers will fly between Prague and Toronto three times a week. The seat capacity will thus increase by more than 140 percent between Prague and Toronto. “For passengers from Prague, this means, among other things, a greater opportunity to use connections to a wide network of destinations, especially in Canada and the USA,” said Prague Airport spokeswoman Marika Janoušková.
According to Josef Trejbal, director of the Letuška.cz sales portal, domestic demand for flights to Canada is growing by tens of percent a year. But there is also one complication: from mid-March, tourists will have to process electronic registration for the trip.
