Prague is the best place in the world to spend last Christmas, according to a poll by an American newspaper
USA Today readers voted during the first three weeks of December, based on tips from editors who selected ten nominees in each category. In the category of Christmas trips to Prague, for example, Iceland’s Reykjavík, the American “Christmas” town of McAdenville in North Carolina, which became famous for its festive decorations, as well as Norway’s Tromsö and Finland’s Lapland, the mythical home of Santa Claus, competed.
The daily recommended Prague to its readers as a place that is very magical right around Christmas. Tourists should not miss the markets on the Old Town Square in particular, the Czech custom of St. Nicholas offering, associated with the possibility that visitors will personally meet the white-bearded St. Nicholas accompanied by the devil and an angel, deserves a special mention.

“Prague has once again proven that it ranks among the world’s leading metropolises and is very attractive not only for tourists, but also for its residents. Czech Christmas also brings with it a beautiful atmosphere and a number of traditional customs and dishes,” said councilor Jan Wolf (KDU-ČSL) on Monday in response to Prague’s success.
Libor Votruba, the chairman of the board of directors of Taiko, which organizes Christmas markets in the center of Prague, praises the results of the voting. According to him, it is also an appreciation of the work of his company.
