There will be other parking zones in Prague, drivers will pay up to 1200 crowns
Parking zones will start to increase in other locations in the capital from April next year. In urban areas where drivers will only be allowed to park in a defined sector, a parking card will cost 600 crowns a year. Residents of city districts where parking will not be limited by sectors will pay 1,200 crowns, Deputy Mayor Petr Dolínek (ČSSD) said today.
From the spring, parking zones will be gradually added in Prague 4, 5, 6 and 9. “The town halls themselves decided on the form and price list of parking zones,” said the deputy. In places where paid parking zones already apply, the annual parking coupon costs 700 crowns. These are Prague 1, 2, 3, 7 and part of Prague 16.
The municipality’s proposal originally envisaged that all city districts would be divided into smaller sectors in terms of parking. Residents would then be able to park with a residence card only in a designated location near their place of residence. But they would pay significantly less than those who would like to park in the entire city district.
Such a driver should have the card cost 4350 crowns, unless they had a year-round public transport coupon. However, according to Dolínek, the proposal did not pass at the town halls. For example, politicians from Prague 6 and 4 rejected the division into sectors, so they will have only one parking zone. The planned benefit did not pass when buying the annual public transport coupon.
The first parking zones in the metropolis appeared in 1996 in Prague 1 on the right bank.
