The Student Agency will start operating on the new national line in Germany
The Czech bus carrier Student Agency will start operating on the second German domestic line. From 1 December, passengers on the route from Prague to Amsterdam will also be able to buy a ticket for the domestic German route. So far, domestic transport may not have been possible. The company started operating the line from Prague to Hamburg in August.
The route to Amsterdam stops in Nuremberg, Würzburg, Frankfurt, Bonn, Cologne and Düsseldorf. Ticket prices will start at five euros (135 crowns). Connections on a given line run ten times a week in each direction.
The company started operating on domestic German routes in December two years ago between Nuremberg and Mannheim, but in the service of Deutsche Bahn. It wasn’t until this year on August 1 that she started running in her colors on the line to Hamburg. In the first three months, it was used by over 3,300 passengers, buses run here twice a week in each direction.
In recent years, Radim Jančura’s company has been trying to expand mainly abroad, as the Czech market is already significantly saturated. Efforts to expand services in the Czech Republic have also met with the rejection of license applications between the cities of Pilsen and Klatovy.
The railway is not doing so well
Under the RegioJet brand, domestic buses run in Slovakia between Bratislava and Banská Bystrica, and an international connection from Bratislava to Vienna has also started operating. German long-distance transport opened to buses only two years ago, when the monopoly on rail transport fell.
Jančura is less successful in railway transport. A joint project of trains from Prague to Berlin and Deutsche Bahn has already fallen, and it wants to partially withdraw from the Bratislava – Košice line in the first quarter of next year.
