Air Berlin will enter the Czech market, opening a route to Prague
Air Berlin is one of the largest airlines in the Czech market. From April, they will connect Prague with Berlin, and on weekdays they will fly between the two metropolises three times a day.
“Air Berlin will create additional opportunities for passengers from Prague to more distant places such as Abu Dhabi, Chicago or Moscow, or to destinations in northern Europe,” commented Jiří Vyskoč, Prague Airport’s director of aviation trade.
The first flight will take place on April 13. Tickets are already on sale, prices start at 3,700 crowns for the return flight. Fifteen weekday flights will be complemented by another five weekend frequencies.
Air Berlin enters the link from which last year withdrew Czech Airlines. According to Vyskoč, about 13,000 people now travel between Prague and Berlin in every direction. The direct line should carry about 41,000 passengers during the first year.
The German carrier will deploy a turboprop Saab 2000 for 54 passengers. The company will borrow the plane from Darwin Airline. These belong to the Etihad Regional group, which also owns a minority stake in Air Berlin. Airlines that previously operated flights to Florence or Geneva in cooperation with CSA will return to Prague through a German partner.
