Prague is preparing a billion-dollar tender for waste collection. It has not yet mastered the Prague services
In the coming days, Prague will probably announce an open competition for waste collection. He told the deputy mayor Jiří Vávra (TOP 09). According to estimates, the value of the contract should exceed two billion crowns. The city is pressing for time. The problematic waste collection contract, which has been extended several times, ends in the fall.
So far, Prague has not succeeded in negotiating the purchase of the company Pražské služby, through which it wanted to provide services itself in the coming years.
The capital has long-term problems with waste collection. The original ten-year contract with Prague Services ended at the end of 2011. Prague wanted to choose a new supplier, but canceled the tender due to doubts.
The fight for Prague services
Since then, she has extended her contract with Pražská without a proper competition. Last year, it awarded a ten-month contract for more than a billion crowns.
Prague holds 76.92 percent of the shares in the company Pražské služby, which takes care of cleaning and garbage. The rest belong to six other entities. The largest part, roughly a sixth, is owned by Northward Holding Limited, which over time bought it from the Natland group. Prague has been trying to negotiate a share buyback with the company for several months.
However, no agreement has yet been found, said Vávra. According to him, Prague offered 750 million crowns for the share, but the shareholder wants 100 million more.
Although Prague owns the majority in the company, it cannot directly award the tender due to the Public Procurement Act.
