Indian Bollywood will be filmed in the Czech Republic again
In May and June next year, filmmakers from the famous Indian Bollywood, ie film studios in the local metropolis of Mumbai, will go to the Czech Republic. Milk and Honey Pictures is currently preparing to shoot a high-budget film, Bang Bang, directed by Siddhart Annad. Starring Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif.
The Czechia would like to attract Indian filmmakers, as Switzerland has done in the last ten years. According to the Czech Film Commission, which aims to attract foreign producers to the Czech Republic, around 25 Bollywood feature films are shot there every year. Film productions have a huge impact on tourism. The Alpine country now attracts 200,000 tourists from India each year, making it the third most popular destination in terms of Indian inbound tourism.
The Czech Republic could help in film cooperation with India and the experience of Indian filmmakers from the past. For example, the Czech company Punk Film appeared three years ago to shoot the Indian film Rockstar, which was shot in Prague, Sychrov and other places in the Czech Republic. The shooting of the new Indian film is made in Prague, Orlík, Český Krumlov and Kutná Hora.
However, more Indian filmmakers are interested in filming in the Czech Republic. Their interest in filming in the Czech Republic is conditioned by the availability of investment incentives for film production, Helena Fraňková, director of the State Cinematography Fund, told the Czech Film Commission.
“If we manage to secure sufficient funding for these incentives, we have already confirmed the interest of five major Bollywood film products next year and next,” Frankova said. Confirmation of interest is, among other things, the current visits of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout and culture Jiří Balvín (both in resignation) to India.
