There is no danger of a bomb attack in Boston, USA, after Monday, the Security Information Service claims. The Prague police nevertheless protected the American embassy. Police officers are also preparing for action during the marathon, which is planned for mid-May in the streets of the metropolis.
“We have taken certain measures to increase the level of protection of the US Embassy in Prague,” said police spokeswoman Stepanka Zatloukalova. She did not want to indicate any further measures, because they will only emerge from the analysis that the security forces are preparing. “It has not been confirmed at this time that this was a terrorist attack in Boston. In this regard, we need to wait for more information from the United States, “she added.
The situation after the attack in Boston is being monitored by the Prague police, where a marathon with thousands of participants is also to take place in mid-May. “The police have not taken any massive special measures. Police officers in the metropolis have been focusing on places with a larger larger person and on selected objects for a long time as part of their regular services, “said police spokeswoman Andrea Zoulová.
Among other things, the Security Intelligence Service deals with terrorism and the activities of foreign intelligence services that did not detect the current threat. “At the moment, we have no news or signal that there is an imminent danger in the Czech Republic,” said BIS spokesman Jan Šubert.
According to him, however, the Czechia is in a long-term risk, for example due to membership in the military North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and the fact that it is part of the Euro-Atlantic civilization. “In the case of events such as religious radicals, the goal is a place where there is a guarantee that it will provoke an extraordinary response, ie gatherings, theaters and airports, but also sports events,” the spokesman added.
