Jančura wants to replace ČD on the route from Prague to Brno
The head of the Regiojet Radim Jančur is growing wings. After obtaining data from the Ministry of Transport on subsidies on individual lines, he would like to operate a railway connection with Prague to Brno instead of Czech Railways, without a state contribution from 2014 onwards.
Jančura has already arranged a meeting with the Minister of Transport Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS), whom he wants to convince of his intention, he said. Brno daily.
He refused the request from the ČD line with the previous Minister of Transport Pavel Dobeš. “He was told that there was a timetable for the liberalization of long-distance rail transport approved by the government in 2009. You can take part in an open tender. If anyone wants to enter the track earlier, they have the opportunity to drive at commercial risk, “said a spokesman for the Ministry of Transport at the time.
According to the schedule, in 2014, express trains across Česká Třebová and Havlíčkův Brod will compete; for EuroCity and Express trains, the state expects to liberalize traffic later due to interconnections with neighboring states and Serbia. Trains from Ústí via Prague and Brno to Břeclav are not due until 2023, and the winner of the tender is to start running here from December 2027.
It is said that Jančura would be able to operate 16 pairs of trains between Prague and Brno, most of which continue, or at least to Vienna. “We are currently producing 73 wagons and within two years we would be able to produce other necessary ones,” he said. He has four offers on the locomotive. If he didn’t have it in time, he would allegedly consider renting.
“A private carrier can run at its own risk or push the ministry to place a tender earlier. The question is whether the tender will win. Another problem is whether she should have vehicles. Commissioning and production takes two to three years. Unless someone had cars made and no one wanted it, “said railway expert Emanuel Šíp.
Jančura demands operation on the line by the argument that ČD receives an annual subsidy of 625 million for the operation of trains between Ústí nad Labem and Břeclav. With this money, he said, profitable is a ticket for the crown.
Jancura is pushing the Ministry of Transport, because the connection of the two largest cities in the country has great economic potential. He has already practically pushed the competition out of the motorway, if ČD had to end between Prague and Brno, it would be without competition even on the railway. He also said that if he got on the railway, he would cancel the buses.
