Police seized Rath and his wife from a lawyer
With the consent of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the police blocked the money deposited at the law firm by the deputy and former Central Bohemian governor David Rath, who was accused of corruption, and his wife. The information was provided by Rath’s lawyer Adam Černý.
The lawyer did not want to clarify the attachment. According to him, this is money that the spouses put into legal custody in July and was intended, for example, for a possible bail or the purchase of mortgaged real estate.
According to Černý, politics seized the money on Monday. He allegedly justified this procedure by saying that the amount withheld relates to another possible accusation of Ratha, due to which the deputies will meet on Monday and decide whether Ratha will be stripped of his immunity again.
The Central Bohemian prosecutor Petr Jirát declined to comment on the case, the daily Právo only generally granted that money, real estate and possibly other things are always secured as proceeds of crime, or as its substitute value. In this context, Rath’s lawyer considers police measures to be bullying and coercion of defense.

“The police state that a revenue of nine million crowns was to take place,” Černý said. However, according to him, his client has already seized assets of a higher value, namely about 15 million, while the insurance now provides additional amounts.
Last week, the court appointed Rath the possibility of release from custody for a bail of 14 million crowns, and the deputy filed a complaint against the decision. He also defended the prosecutor, who refuses to release the politician on bail due to fears that he could escape and that he could continue the crime. The matter will be dealt with by the Regional Court in Prague.
