Centrale del latte, the cooperative defends the new industrial plan: “Export is perhaps the only opening to keep the power plant in San Marino standing”
“The export is perhaps the only opening to keep the power plant standing, which will not abandon the local market and which will not change the company philosophy, guaranteeing products made with San Marino milk”.
The Sammarinese Milk Cooperative, which has managed the Titano dairy plant since 2015, thus defends the industrial plan presented to the government in recent months and rejected by the same. Plan that provides for the entry into companies of Russian entrepreneurs through a company under San Marino law, with the aim of marketing Made in San Marino dairy products in Russia.
On the other hand, the Russian one represents a huge market in which the Titan can (at the moment operate) freely unlike Italy as it does not adhere to the sanctions issued by the EU for the 2014 Crimean war. in particular the marketing of many European food products.
“It seems right to us – writes the Cooperative on social networks – to make some clarifications following these two days animated by protests and demonstrative gestures.
We are reading a lot of solidarity on social media, which moves us and encourages us. We have also read many comments with personal opinions that we respect but that report incorrect data. We would like to reiterate some things we care deeply about:
- All the milk that is processed within the milk plant is entirely San Marino, conveyed from 2 partner stalls and from another San Marino stable.
- All products are the result of craftsmanship, the milk conveyed is processed within a few hours of arrival at the plant and immediately pasteurized.
- The products for sale in the San Marino area can boast the “Terra di San Marino” certification, a certification that the consortium recognizes after numerous and periodic checks on milk supply and processing.
- All our products have no conservatives of any kind. We prefer to keep short deadlines but to guarantee you a healthy product, also recommended in the nutrition of your children. All products undergo periodic checks as required by health regulations. Indeed we apologize if they sometimes have small imperfections but it is a guarantee of product craftsmanship.
- In the company we have always been hospitable, we have always welcomed visitors and school groups. Everything has always been transparent, even our recent difficulties.
- Difficulties that arise from a market that crushes usby Italian companies that produce in a manner industrial and large-scale, which by reducing prices are able to enter our market at prices significantly lower than ours. However, companies – Pino Guidi and associates attacked – that often use milk that is not Italian but from Eastern Europe. Companies that annihilate the competition by selling crane pages (different groups of products, ed) of more references and I am willing to enter the market with low cost price lists for fast perishable products “.
Responding to a user, the Cooperative also clarifies why fresh milk has not been produced and marketed since last year. “Unfortunately following a major failure of the bottling machine and to reduced customer demand, we had to opt for this solution. In the last period, sales were too low compared to the heavy costs. Also in this case we clashed with other companies that sell at significantly lower prices because they were bottled at an industrial level and with a strong reduction in costs.
The expiration of fresh products (6) is also very short and management costs are very high, counting the increases on plastic and expired returns that have been collected from the points of sale. Unfortunately, the sales volumes were too low to be able to meet all the bottling and distribution costs ”.
What will happen now? The government seems willing to issue a tender to identify a new manager of the milk plant which, we recall, remains a public industrial plant. But the Cooperative has announced that it will not give up easily.
